Celebrate Give 10 to Education in a special way this admin year

Posted On: Monday, 12 October 2026

Give 10 to Education is a simple but effective ALA initiative that supports students, teachers, and schools.

Started in 2007, ALA members and their communities are encouraged to give 10 items to their local schools.

Participants of Give 10 can donate 10 packs of pencils, 10 tissue boxes, 10 books, or 10 other items a school may need.

To better understand the supply wishes of your local classrooms, it is encouraged to contact school leadership and teachers. Another resource is looking at your school’s supply lists.

For nearly 20 years, Give 10 to Education has been supporting the classroom — 10 items at a time.

As this accessible program reaches its 20th anniversary in 2027, ALA members are encouraged to Give 20 to Education to celebrate the program’s lasting impact.

Following the same idea as Give 10, for the 2026-2027 administrative year, units, districts, departments, etc., are being challenged to donate 20 items — whatever local schools need and what you can give — to education.

If you need help with donation ideas, check out the Give 10 to Education Suggested Donation Items and Tracking Sheet.

Get your community involved and host a school supply drive.

The ALA Education Committee Facebook group, @ALAEducationProgram, can help you with Give 20 and Give 10 to Education ideas, or you can share your own ideas in the group for others.
