GivingTuesday

With a day for giving thanks and two days for getting deals, it’s more than fitting that the Tuesday after Thanksgiving is dedicated to giving back. #GivingTuesday helps kick off the holiday season and reminds others to give—whether it’s your time, a donation or something else.

Giving Tuesday is a day when the world comes together for the purpose of giving. Last year Giving Tuesday raised $116.7 million online from 700,000 donors in 70 countries.

Here’s how you can join the movement.

  • Donate your time. This can be done in your own community whether you are volunteering by yourself or with a large group. Contact organizations in your community and find out how you can help.
  • Make a monetary donation. One of the best ways to show support in your community is by giving a donation. Give back to a charity or organization that has impacted your life and encourage others to do the same.
  • Double the impact of your gift. Many companies offer matching gift programs that allow you to double the impact of your gift. The American Legion Auxiliary Foundation is one of those organizations. Innovairre Communications has partnered with the American Legion Auxiliary Foundation by providing a $15,000 matching grant. #GivingTuesday donations impact the lives of veterans and military families through the Veteran Projects Fund, which addresses the emergent needs of veterans, and the Mission Endowment Fund that supports American Legion Auxiliary programs for veterans and their families.
  • Tell others about it. Share why you give on social media. This raises awareness of Giving Tuesday and encourages others to give. Write a short post on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram and tell others why you participated in Giving Tuesday.
