Terry is a 29-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary and is a product of the Girls State program as a 1973 delegate to Colorado Girls State. She has served on staff every year except one since then, was Director in 1985 and 1986 and has served on their Board for over 25 years.  Terry served as Department President in 2002-2003.  As NEC, she was Vice Chairman of the National Girls State Committee.

Besides her involvement in the Auxiliary, she has held leadership positions in a variety of other state and local organizations. Terry resides in Grand Junction, Colorado,  where she has taught 8th grade Mathematics for 29 years.  She enjoys officiating high school volleyball and is active in her church.
