  VIM Requirements
 
 
  • Senior and Junior members having a valid membership card for the current year may become a VIM member.
  • Members whose dues are not paid for the current membership year are considered delinquent and must pay current dues to their Unit before becoming eligible. Current year dues payments must be reflected on the National Headquarters database before VIM applications can be processed.
  • Applicants must complete, in full, Section 1 on the VIM application. The VIM rate chart, on the back of the application, is used to determine the VIM membership fee. If the VIM membership is purchased as a gift, contact the Unit Secretary to confirm required VIM fee.
  • After completion, submit application and required VIM fee to the Unit Secretary.
  • After the VIM and payment are processed at National Headquarters, the VIM member will be issued a plastic VIM card. Allow 4 to 6 weeks to receive your new card from National Headquarters.
  • The VIM member will continue to receive the annual membership card for the given membership year which will also identify her as a VIM member.
  • VIM membership pins are available through The American Legion Emblem Sales.
