To require all colleges to have the same set tuition fee for all students regardless of their state of residency.
IN THE SENATE OF GIRLS NATION
Senators Logue and Hansen of South Dakota introduced the following bill; which was referred to Committee .
BE IT ENACTED BY THE SENATE OF GIRLS NATION ASSEMBLED.
SECTION 1. TITLE
This act may be cited as the "Equal Tuition Act".
SECTION 2. PURPOSE
The Equal Tuition Act will make attending a college out of a student's state more attainable.
SECTION 3. DEFINITIONS
This bill will end "out of state" tuition and make tuition the same price regardless of a student's state of residency. Out of state tuition is a higher tuition that is to be paid for a student to attend a college that is not located in their state of residency.
SECTION 4. EQUAL TUITION ACT
The Equal Tuition Act entails that:
(A) In every post secondary school in the United States of America have only one
tuition price for all students.
(B) If a school does not abide by this they will lose all federal funding and have the
possibility of being shut down.
(C) This act applies to all post secondary schools.
SECTION 5. EFFECTIVE DATE
This act shall be effective for all post secondary schools of the United States that have both in and out of state tuition on or after January 2014.
