IN THE SENATE OF GIRLS NATION
Senators Gaba and Lund of North Dakota introduced the following bill; which was referred to Committee .
BE IT ENACTED BY THE SENATE OF GIRLS NATION ASSEMBLED.
SECTION 1. TITLE
This act may be cited as the "Mental Health Improvement Act".
SECTION 2. PURPOSE
The Mental Health Improvement Act will increase patient accessibility at mental health facilities.
SECTION 3. DEFINITIONS
Mentally ill patients are those diagnosed with a mental illness by a certified physician.
Mental Health facilities refer to treatment and technologies centers dedicated to helping those suffering from mental illness.
SECTION 4. MENTAL HEALTH IMPROVEMENT ACT
The Mental Health Improvement Act entails that:
(A) Exclusive funds shall be provided to mental health facilities for the purpose of
inpatient treatment and residential living conditions.
(1) Magnitude of funding will be determined by demonstrated need of facility.
(B) Patients and their guardians shall be exempt from all or partial amounts of
(1) Magnitude of exemption will be determined by demonstrated need of patient or patient's legal guardian.
(C) This act applies to all federally funded mental health facilities.
SECTION 5. EFFECTIVE DATE
This act shall be effective for all citizens of the United States dealing with mental disorders after January 1st 2014.
