Senators Kohler and Mwangi of Missouri introduced the following bill; which was referred to Committee .
To provide funding for the improvement of transportation infrastructure for Native American reservations.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE SENATE OF GIRLS NATION ASSEMBELED.
SECTION 1. TITLE
This ACT can be cited as the "Native American Transportation Infrastructure Act".
SECTION 2. PURPOSE
The Native American Roads Act will provide funding improvements for Native American Reservations.
SECTION 3. DEFINITIONS:
Mortgage Income Tax Deduction loophole: "homeowners deducting interest paid on their mortgage which costs the US Treasury one billion dollars in revenue
Federal Indian Trust Responsibility: "a legal obligation under which the United States 'has charged itself with moral obligations of the highest responsibility and trust' toward Indian tribes."
SECTION 4. NATIVE AMERICAN TRANSPORTATION ACT
The Native American Roads Act entails that:
(A) United States Federal Government will accept: The National Congress of
American Indians 2013 recommendation for transportation infrastructure on
Native American Reservations.
(B) There will be further funding for maintenance as determined by the National
Congress of American Indians, the Bureau of Indian Affairs, and the tribal
(C) Funding will be provided by closing the Mortgage Income Tax Deduction
(D) This Act applies to all Native American Reservations.
SECTION 5. EFFECTIVE DATE
This act shall be effective for all citizens of Native American Reservations on or after January 1st, 2014.
