67th Girls Nation Congress
Expressing the sense of the Senate that the US, to decrease dependence on foreign oil and decrease CO2 emissions, should expand development of solar energy with an emphasis on green public transportation.
IN THE SENATE OF GIRLS NATION
Senators Ahmad and Zhao of Kansas submitted the following resolution.
Whereas the United States now consists of an increasing number of urban and suburban areas where mass public transportation is feasible;
Whereas the non-renewable nature of petroleum coupled with the increasing population will eventually necessitate the development of renewable energy;
Whereas it is in the interest of the Senate to support solar energy development, especially as it pertains to public transportation, to reduce consumption of traditional energy sources: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED,
(1) That the US government will enter into a partnership with private companies in the solar energy industry to provide resources and research as it pertains to developing more accessible and clean public transportation.
(2) That the US government support efforts to implement and integrate green public transportation such as solar energy powered and carbon neutral buses.
