67th Girls Nation Congress
To authorize funds to relieve and prevent homelessness through the use of reported cases and registration, increasing funds to the Fair Housing Initiative Programs, and other such programs.
IN THE SENATE OF GIRLS NATION
Senators Osanya and Ruggiero of Iowa introduced the following bill; which was referred to
BE IT ENACTED BY THE SENATE OF GIRLS NATION ASSEMBLED.
SECTION 1. TITLE
This act may be cited as the "Empower the Homeless Act".
SECTION 2. PURPOSE
The Empower the Homeless Act will prevent and relieve homelessness.
SECTION 3. DEFINITIONS
Homelessness is defined as having no permanent home under a person's name.
Reported cases refers to the reporting of the involved circumstances to a court of law following and before the loss of your housing.
Registration program refers to a record of those who have suffered homelessness and are now attempting to obtain housing, healthcare, or other such necessities.
SECTION 4. EMPOWER THE HOMELESS ACT
The Empower the Homeless Act entails that:
(A) Funding will be increased 10% to programs enlisted under this bill, along with
(B) Emphasizes a portion of the funding allocated shall be used to create and
implement a registration program.
SECTION 5. EFFECTIVE DATE
This act shall be effective for all previously government-funded homeless shelters on or after January 1, 2014.
