To lift the United States embargo on Cuba.
IN THE SENATE OF GIRLS NATION
Senators Cao and Malhotra of Delaware introduced the following bill; which was referred to Committee .
BE IT ENACTED BY THE SENATE OF GIRLS NATION ASSEMBLED.
SECTION 1. TITLE
This act may be cited as the "Cuban Free Trade Act".
SECTION 2. PURPOSE
The Cuban Free Trade Act will remove the United States embargo on Cuba, stimulating both the American and Cuban economies.
SECTION 3. CUBAN FREE TRADE ACT
The Cuban Free Trade Act entails that:
(A) All trading restrictions between the United States and Cuba are lifted.
(1) Termination of the exercise of section 5(b) of the Trading With the Enemy Act
with respect to Cuba and any regulations in effect.
(2) Termination of any prohibition on exports to Cuba in effect under the Export
Administration Act of 1979.
(3) Repeal of the Cuban Democracy Act of 1992.
(4) Repeal of the Helms-Burton Act of 1996.
(B) The President of the United States shall take all necessary steps to conduct
negotiations with the Cuban Government for the purpose of settling economic claims
of Americans against the Cuban Government for the taking of property by such
SECTION 4. EFFECTIVE DATE
This Act and the amendments made by this Act shall take effect 60 days after the date of the enactment of this Act.
