Governing Body of American Legion Auxiliary Approves New Changes to Strategic Plan

The “A New Day is Dawning" event conducted recently in Washington, D. C. was a success!  It allowed all NEC members, and any one else desiring to attend, the opportunity to embrace an exciting future and witness the passion that the strategic planning team members have for the organization as presented under a One Act Play titled The Vision.  The play clearly touched the hearts and souls of all attendees. The EVENT also allowed participants to actively engage in activities where their voices were heard, questions answered and information clarified on the proposed Strategic Plan. 
 
National President Jan Pulvermacher-Ryan and Vice President Desi Stoy left no doubt that the goals and objectives proposed outlined what was to be achieved to make the organization viable to carry out its mission. The overwhelming confidence by the National Executive Committee at their March 30, 2008 meeting approved the Mission, Vision and Strategic Plan as presented. 

Mission Statement:  The Mission of the American Legion Auxiliary is to serve veterans, their families and their communities.

Vision Statement:  The American Legion Auxiliary enriches the quality of life of those we serve and our veterans.

The Strategic Plan will be updated to include the following three breakthrough strategies:

(1) Leverage Technology to Improve Communications & Operations (Under Organizational Resources Goal)
(2) Unit & Department Operational Standards & Training (Under Organizational Resources Goal)
(3) Become the Clearinghouse  for Information, Programs & Services (Under Services Goal)

The established Oversight Committee will now begin the task of outlining the implementation steps to move the organization through this administrative year.  Departments will be kept informed stressing the importance of communicating the activities surrounding this process to their membership.  Members are encouraged to continue using the following strategic planning e-mail address to have questions or clarification of information:  strategicplanning@legion-aux.org.
